That we have been able to adapt as the epidemic provides changed over the years is certainly in large part due to AHF’s dedicated companions and collaborators around the world.After trials relating to the experimental anti-meningitis drug Trovan left 11 Nigerian children lifeless and dozens more wounded, Pfizer refused to admit fault initially, claiming that the medication had not been the cause. The drug giant decided to settle the issue out of court ultimately, however, and 15 years later is starting to distribute payments finally. There was a meningitis epidemic in Kano, a town in northern Nigeria, during the right time when Pfizer came into the country and began pressing Trovan on small children. The goal of the trial was to confirm that Trovan was more effective than other established treatments for meningitis, though it never really had legal authority to do so.
